Common Questions

What DPI should I use for my website?

For web images, 72 PPI is standard for regular displays, while 144 PPI (2x) is recommended for Retina/HiDPI screens. Most modern devices handle both automatically.

What resolution do I need for an 8×10 inch print?

For quality printing at 300 DPI: 2400 × 3000 pixels
For 150 DPI (draft): 1200 × 1500 pixels
For 600 DPI (museum quality): 4800 × 6000 pixels

How big is too big for email attachments?

Most email providers limit attachments to 20-25 MB. A 4000×3000 pixel JPG at quality 90% is approximately 2-3 MB, which is safe for email.

Does higher DPI always mean better?

Not necessarily. Beyond 300 DPI, the improvement is barely noticeable to the naked eye. 300 DPI is considered "photo quality" by professional printers. Save 600 DPI for very large prints viewed up close.

Why are my printed images blurry?
