Prepare a product photo before it goes on a listing

A listing image has one job: show the product without asking the shopper to imagine the studio. The sequence below is the one we use before a file is called finished.

Frame and background

Crop so the product has a consistent margin. If the background is already plain, the browser remover may be enough. If the edge is a strap, a plant, or anything translucent, stop and use masking. A hard outline on a soft edge is the mistake people notice only after the page is live.

Clean the surface

Dust, a sensor spot, and a scuff that is not part of the product should go. Texture that is part of the material should stay. If you are unsure, leave it and mark it in the quote. Over-cleaning is how leather starts to look like plastic.

Size the file for the page

A heavy original is a good archive. It is a poor listing. Export the long edge your channel asks for, then compress and look again. The compressor shows the weight before you replace anything. Keep the untouched file. The small one is for the page, not for the archive.
